Our dogged Mascot

Milou: The Four-Legged Foodie Behind The Chef Tours

If you’ve ever wandered the cobbled alleys of Montmartre or threaded your way through the intoxicating maze of the Istanbul spice markets, there’s a good chance you’ve spotted a curious little Boston Terrier leading the way—tail wagging, nose twitching, and ears perked. That’s Milou, the four-legged co-founder of The Chef Tours, and he’s got more frequent flyer miles than most humans.

But Milou isn’t just here for the ride (or the leftovers). He has become the unofficial mascot of our tours, not just in Paris and Istanbul, winning over guests with his gentlemanly charm and remarkably refined palate.

A Dog with a Passport and a Palate

Milou’s adventures began when Chef Karl Wilder decided to launch The Chef Tours—not as a gimmick, but as a passion project rooted in authenticity, storytelling, and food that evokes emotions. As Karl tells it, “The best meals of my life weren’t always the fanciest. They were local, meaningful, and often shared with Milou on my lap.”

And so it began.

From the smell of warm simit in Istanbul to the buttery aroma of croissants in Paris, Milou’s world has always revolved around good food—and even better company.

A Sniff of Paris

In Paris, Milou can often be found guiding guests through secret side streets in Montmartre, where time seems to slow and the air smells of fresh baguettes and melted cheese. He’s got a nose for hidden bistros, family-run fromageries, and that one spot where the tarte tatin always comes out just right.

If you join our Paris food tour, don’t be surprised if Milou makes an appearance alongside Chef PJ—charming his way into photos and possibly even a taste of your croissant (if you’re feeling generous).

The Prince of Istanbul’s Food Scene

In Istanbul, Milou navigates the vibrant chaos like a seasoned local. From meze plates to lamb skewers, he’s sampled it all (under strict veterinary supervision, of course). While he doesn’t lead the tour—there are leash laws and dignity to maintain—he’s often seen greeting guests or napping in the shade near our final stop.

Our Istanbul food tour is packed with bold flavours, cultural gems, and enough personality to match even Milou’s expressive eyes.

Not Just a Mascot—A Movement

Milou is more than an adorable dog on a passport. He represents what The Chef Tours is really about: curiosity, connection, and cuisine with heart. Every city we explore is done slowly, personally, and always in search of what’s real. And Milou, in his own fluffy way, reminds us to savor the journey (and never skip dessert).

Final Bite

Wherever The Chef Tours takes you—whether it’s through the fragrant corridors of Istanbul or beneath the painted shutters of Parisian windows—you might just find Milou trotting ahead, tail high, nose low, leading you toward your next unforgettable meal.
