FAQs
BOOKING & CANCELLING
What happens when I make my online booking for a food tour?
When you complete your food tour booking on our secure website, you will receive an automated order confirmation containing your food tour booking details and meeting point information. On your credit card statement your purchase will show up as Chef Tours.
The day I want to book doesn’t seem to be available. I see a call or email to book a message. What does that mean?
It could be that the tour is sold out or that we don’t have a tour open for bookings. In either case, please email [email protected], and we can see if we can open another departure for your booking.
What is included in the price?
All food and drinks for every experience are included in the price. The only thing not included is gratuities and they are always greatly appreciated.
What is Chef Tours Cancellation Policy?
24 hours in advance via the booking platform you used. For private tours, 14 days are required. We will do our best to reschedule guests whose flights are late. We suggest that you do not book our tours on your arrival or departure days.
How do I cancel or reschedule my tour?
You can cancel or reschedule your tour by emailing us at [email protected]. In some cases, we need to charge a rescheduling fee.
Are gift certificates available?
Travel gift certificates are available and make a wonderful present for anyone who is visiting or lives in any of our cities.
Can I book a private tour or class for my group?
Yes. We offer private group food tours for groups of up to 26 people in Paris and custom tours for groups of any size. All private tours are priced on application, so please contact us at [email protected] for more information.
Do I have to book in advance? Can I just arrive and pay cash?
Tickets for all tours must be purchased on our website. Generally, food tours can be booked up to 4 hours before the tour departs! Walk-ups or cash sales are not accepted.
I’m travelling alone. Do you offer single tickets or just group sales?
We love welcoming solo travellers! Our tours are open to individual guests after a group of two or more has booked.
TOUR FAQ
Yes, always ask your guide should the need arise at the beginning of the tour, but at our eating locations, toilets are readily accessible.
Each tour has its own timeframe. PJ and Tris are about 5 hours each, with the picnic a 3+ hour tour with a 15-minute leeway on either side. You can find specifics on each tour’s page.
The maximum number of people on our food tours varies but generally is 8 to 14 people. You can find more details for each tour on that tour’s webpage.
About two hours worth on each tour but with stops to view and talk. Wear comfortable shoes.
All of our tours go ahead – rain, hail or shine! In the case of rain, we are able to go inside many of the tasting locations and there are other places where we will be able to stay dry. We kindly ask you to look at the weather forecast and dress appropriately. Bring an umbrella.
We can do private tours in French or other languages. Just ask.
Two is our minimum booking number, but our tours are a great way for individuals to meet other travelers and experience an authentic taste of their destination off the beaten path.
FOOD FAQ
The food and wine are abundant; while they are not typical tasting tours with the five stops of cheap carbohydrates, we do feed you quite a bit of food. Chef Tris’s tour, Eat Like the French, includes breakfast, tastings, and lunch.
All of our food tours are vegetarian-friendly. However, it is not always possible to serve vegan, gluten-free or kosher food at many of the stops. In fact in Paris Gluten free is not well understood. If you have celiac these tours are not suggested. Please notify us of your dietary restrictions upon booking, and we will do our best to accommodate your needs. If you have food allergies or intolerances and decide to try tastings in addition to those that have been specially catered for you, please be aware that you do so at your own risk, and the company assumes no responsibility.
Wine is served on all of our tours. Do feel free to ask for a soft drink alternative if you prefer not to drink alcohol. For children, soft drink alternatives will be available.
In addition to beer and wine, water is served during some tastings. However, we recommend you bring a refillable bottle of water with you on your food tour, especially during the hot summer months.
