Use the Metro or public transportation (unless there is a strike). Do not take a taxi or an Uber, or you will sit in traffic. Guests who take Uber are an average of 30 minutes late.

 Verified The best food tour in Berlin This has to be the best food tour in Berlin! Chef Karl takes you on a tour of his locality, brimming with stories of his family as well as local and national history. Then he serves a delicious meal in the intimate setting of his apartment, including home-cured meats and lovingly prepared German-inspired dishes.  Verified Don't hestitate - this is the best food tour in Berlin! Okay, WOW. You really can't go wrong with Chef Karl! By far the best food tour in Berlin I've been on (as a local who regularly takes visiting friends and family on food tours). Karl is friendly, entertaining and made us such an incredible meal, my parents and I are still talking about it! It was definitely the highlight of their visit to Berlin. The tour starts with a small tour of Karl's local neighbourhood then you go to his apartment for a 4-course home-cooked meal that was truly amazing. I really can't recommend this tour enough!

 Verified A unique experience in Berlin with delicious (non-German) food Chef Karl took us on an interesting tour of East Berlin, areas that we would have never seen in typical tours. He was an excellent story-teller, some of which were true! The food was excellent, but don't make the mistake of arriving too hungry--we walked for over an hour before eating, so plan for eating late. The wine was excellent. Also, most of the food he prepared was not German, ie a fantastic chicken mole, but this was fine by me since I do not like most German food. :)

 Verified A Warm Evening Full of Flavor and Stories. This experience was one of the highlights of our Berlin trip. Chef Karl welcomed us warmly and took us on a relaxed walk through a local neighborhood while sharing personal stories and history of the area. After the walk, we enjoyed a beautiful home-cooked dinner in a cozy setting. Every dish was prepared with care and tasted amazing.  Verified Good experience We took this tour in October and forgot to review it. We are still talking about it. It was the most sincere and personal look at East Berlin one could hope for, not history as it is written but as it was lived. And the food, every dish had a story and was as fresh as it could be.  Verified Perfect way to spend an evening In Berlin This is an exceptional tour, it's a little different to how most food tours run, but the experience is genius. Karl takes you on a very personal journey in this cool part of Berlin, highlighting interesting stories which relate way back to his childhood. From the unique images of the Berlin wall to the area's activist nature all is revealed in a very fun way. After indulging in the areas history and culture, we then head back to Chef Karl's cozy apartment to indulge in a meal of several courses! Highlights included a delicious pastry and meat dish and gorgeous home made fried chicken! Good dinner chat with Karl and the guests and a very nice way to spend a night in Berlin.

 Verified A Delightful and Entertaining Evening in the Bohemian Part of Berlin Chef Karl is a delightful host, as well as an informative tour guide of a less touristy part of Berlin. Before dinner, we took a stroll in the Kreuzberg area with Karl and his cute dog. Karl pointed out and gave the history of several unique spots in this bohemian area that, as tourists, we would have never discovered. Afterwards, we went to Karl's apartment for the dinner. He had prepared several cheese and starter dishes which we enjoyed with a very good bottle of wine. (I believe Karl is a sommelier, although I am not sure. Regardless, Karl really knows his wine!)The dinner consisted of several dishes, all of which were excellent and too much for us to eat. And, during the dinner we had a delightful conversation with Karl who has led a very interesting life.
